Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni said that there has been a decrease in the arrival of wheat in the markets of Patiala district, and now only about two thousand metric tonnes are arriving daily. He said that this time there was a record arrival compared to last year, and till yesterday, 8 lakh 86 thousand metric tonnes of wheat had arrived in the markets, and 100 percent payment of the purchased wheat to the farmers, including the purchase of all the wheat reached in the markets, had also been done.
The Deputy Commissioner said that out of the total purchased wheat, Pangrain purchased 293043 metric tonnes, Markfed 214472 metric tonnes, Pansap 197845 metric tonnes, Warehouse 157213 metric tonnes, and traders purchased a total of 23433 metric tonnes of wheat.
Sakshi Sahni appealed to the farmers not to burn crop residues and said that farmers can contribute to protecting the environment from pollution by not burning crop residues and avoiding the adverse effects on health caused by burning crop residues. May help minimise the effects.
