On the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti on 4th April 2023, District Magistrate Patiala Sakshi Sahni, using the powers conferred under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Act No. 2 of 1974), Orders have been issued to keep non-vegetarian hotels/dhabas and premises closed within the limits of District Patiala.
According to orders, SS. Jain Sabha (Reg.) Gurmandi Patiala is celebrating Mahavir Jayanti on April 4, 2023. This day is to be celebrated as Non-Violence Day. According to religious custom, it is inauspicious to kill any animal on this day. Killing animals on this day can hurt the religious sentiments of people and may be taken advantage of by mischievous elements.
